Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Tum ne aabsharon ko chup hotay dekha hae? Kabhi kabhi apni tamaam shaan-o-shokat mai bhi paani sak’t hojata hae, awaazain maand parjati haen. Phir wo behta nahi, girta hae. Halkay, halkay. Sirf kisi hukam ki taameel karny ko. Magar suno, paani be-jan nahi hota. Yehi boondain jab patharon pe parrti haen tou unhay torr ke rakh deti haen… Sorakh kardeti haen inn me. Paani khamosh hota hae magar iski boond boond bala ka shor palti hae. Aesa ke ‘jannay waly’ par haibat tari karday.
Tum ne patharon ko toot’ty dekha hae?

  1. Very beautiful and powerful. The sanctity and might of water is very well reflected and justified.

  4. I don’t know how I missed this Maria… it’s out standing…🙂 Sublime piece of work…
One can’t help but wonder what else does something as soft and graceful as water keeps inside…

Water it is, that carries the warmth, becomes a vapor and a cloud’s sigh…
And when it can’t, it remains there, like a drop frozen in someone’e eye…
Water that rams the gates of resistance when comes marching as a flood…
It sinks, it drowns, yet same it is that often pushes to the shore as tides…

Have you seen water being so faithless and so shallow like the wind?
Have you seen it changing the direction amidst way, and wandering?

Have you seen water being so ruthless and so penetrative like the flame?
Have you seen it dancing like a fire, and burn in its own circumference?

Have you seen water being so rigid and so stubborn like the ground beneath?
Have you seen it ever being bordered for the sides, or acting like a sheath?

Who says it holds no color, nor it has any interest in acquiring a form??
Did it not rest inside the crust as a patient, flew restless from heights?
Who formed the planet leveling the mountains, who preserved in it all life?
If water is scream, water is silence, water it is – an expression sublime.

Like a pensive silence, like a flowing expression, this one knows no confines…

    • Wow. Just… wow!

From a cloud’s sigh to a cascade high and a ruthless flood to human’s blood and a sustainer to a sheath, isn’t it amazing how a formless shows its forms in uncountable ways?… I love how you’ve collected its qualities in your poem the way you do with all its reason and metaphors.

Thank you ever so much for your response! Each line stands out, like each word has been beautifully sculptured.
